Thoughts for the week...
June 2, 2014 The Weekly "Buzz" Have a great week and a half ahead. Thanks for working hard to keep a lid on things. You're almost there- you've earned a beautiful summer break ahead! On a personal note, thank you very much for a great school year! I hope you each know how much I value and appreciate the hard work you do everyday. Each time we host families I tell them that they have just entered the best school in the country. I want you to know that I genuinely believe that, and it is each of YOU that make it such a special place. Our dedicated staff is second to none. Thank you for your efforts. Have a great summer!

Thoughts for the week...
May 26, 2014 The Weekly "Buzz" What a beautiful weekend! I hope each of you found some time to enjoy the sunshine and nice weather over the holiday weekend. For those of you remembering service men and women, we thank you for their sacrifice. I also know that many of you spent a good chunk of this weekend on eportfolios. Thank you for your dedication and hard work. I know there were other things you would have preferred to be doing. The week ahead will fly by and June will finally arrive. I know it can be challenging to maintain focus and engagement when the weather is this nice. Thank you for creatively maximizing your instructional time with clay landforms, crayon factories, and other exciting activities. Also, I've noticed a lot of increased supervision and spreading out on the playground. Great job!!! Let's get through the next few weeks incident-free. In sum, from eportfolios, to classroom instruction, to safety and supervision, you are an outstanding team! |

Thoughts for the week...
May 19, 2014 The Weekly "Buzz" I have reflected on this year as one of the best yet in our time together at WM. As we enter the last few weeks of school, remember to take time to appreciate one another and what a great learning community we have. It's also a time when may of us feel the pressure of wrapping up before the year ends. Please take extra care to work collaboratively and be flexible when you can be. We all have the best of intentions and a little kindness goes a long way. Please bring your placement cards to our Wednesday meeting. We will have a guest speaker then we will begin collaborating on tentative placements. Mark cards with special stickies for me- do not move b/c or this child can be placed anywhere, etc. Just like we did last year. This helps me as I finalize lists. (Hooray to those of you who color coded your notes for me last year!!!) Third grade will work collaboratively as a grade level. |

May 4, 2014 The Weekly "Buzz" This is Teacher Appreciation Week! I hope that you each know how deeply we appreciate all of your hard work and efforts. The little extras you do, going the extra mile to help our students have a great Woodland Meadows experience! I wanted to get a small gift for each of you that you could actually use. I know it is just a small token, but I hope you recognize the genuine sentiment behind it. In your mailboxes you will find a teacher appreciation flashlight and a hook to hang it. It is yours to do with whatever you like, but I thought it would be helpful to keep in the dark bathrooms for our drills. Thank you for keeping Woodland "bright" and cheerful. Thank you for "lighting up" young minds with wonder! Thank you... for being YOU! As the end of the year nears, the calendar fills up quickly. Just a reminder, if you plan on having an event please: 1. Have Jeanette add it to the WM calendar. This is the main calendar we use. 2. Be sure to sign out the space on the room sign out document. 3. Use school dude to provide instructions for set up to Scott. 4. Sign out space needed after school hours through community ed. |

April 28, 2014 The Weekly "Buzz" This week we welcome the arrival of May, and hopefully some warmer weather. There are also many exciting activities coming up in May from Ma- Spas to class plays to a full cultural Fiesta, I encourage you to stop by and support our students and colleagues in their events. Also, as new growth emerges from the soil, what ways can you challenge yourself to grow? I am concluding a class and I am reminded of how exciting it is to learn! As our entire focus and reason for being is about learning I encourage to you give yourself the gift of trying something new. Have a wonderful week ahead... |

April 20, 2014 The Weekly "Buzz" What a whirlwind week! I hope you enjoyed the long weekend and enjoyed a Happy Easter if you were celebrating. The weather was beautiful and it is finally feeling like spring. Special thanks to everyone who welcomed a special guest last Thursday. Also I want to thank Betsy and Mary for organizing another beautiful Volunteer Appreciation luncheon! Thank you to third grade for their fine Acting Up performances. Thank you to those of you who helped me gather some technology usage data by completing the survey. I created an infogram using www.easel.ly with the results. Also feel free to read my reflections on the results here. Also, Lisa Morrow, Literacy Tutor has accepted another position and this will be her last week at Woodland Meadows. |

March 31, 2014 The Weekly "Buzz" I know many of you are working on getting more informational text into the hands of your students. I wanted to share a resource with you that can assist in taking a piece of text and adjust it to a more challenging or less challenging reading level. It's a resource found at http://www.newsela.com/. Below is a youtube video explanation of how it works: Also, the tech app smackdown was terrific! I learned about a lot of new apps being used for innovative learning opportunities across the district. Principal Rosen-Leacher put together this short Google Presentation highlighting all the the apps that were shared across the buildings. Check it out! Here is the link:

March 24, 2014 The Weekly "Buzz" It's hard to believe that this is the last week of March. Spring is here, though it doesn't feel like spring just yet. This week we welcome back two staff members who have experienced loss. We are here to support them, but must also provide space for them to keep Woodland Meadows as a safe haven to experience a sense of normalcy. March is reading month has been another success, and I am looking forward to our science fair! Tuesday Team W will be meeting. If you have a student you would like to bring to Team W, please contact Jen Culver to add him or her to the list. Everyone did a great job completing the SPR 40. I have submitted the final report. The leadership team has done a great job guiding us through our school improvement and leadership of initiatives. Have a great week! |
